A workshop series following seasons and plants in 8 sessions held at SOHO in Ottakring and the forests and parks of Ottakring, Vienna, 2024
This series of workshops is dedicated to building up a practice of attentiveness, especially in relation to plants and other more-than-human living beings. Meetings took place twice every season: we walked together and engaged in cultural practices with plants. These include dyeing with plants, collecting wild plants, learning about medicinal herbs, working with plant fibers (nettle flax, etc.), plant prints (hapazomes) and making seedballs. Plants also acted as companions/mentors. Thematic focuses of the individual sessions were in harmony with the seasons and interwoven with literary, poetic contributions.
Augenweide
In collaboration with Hanna Schimek
Series of drawing evenings and afternoons held at SOHO in Ottakring and Als Cafe, Vienna, Austria, 2023–2024
The drawings sessions resulted in a A2 riso print with drawings by the participants.
In this series, the artists devote themselves to the visible and invisible forms of the living plant. Drawing of and with plants is about testing and refining our ability to perceive plants as living organisms as we follow their lines and ruptures, while seeking perspectives on and an understanding of plants. With pen in hand and plants before our eyes, we follow an exploratory path that creates closeness, intimacy and respect and explores other sensitive perspectives.

For several years, I nurtured and cherished a garden in a small village in the Austrian Weinviertel. It was mine only inasmuch as I was its, as we joined our green limbs and flowed together through the days. A number of circumstances led to the garden’s disappearance, so that now it is no longer blooming, sprouting, living. This publication now holds what remains of the garden: it is a reminder of passage, time, light, color, motion, and everything bright and deep that comes of a life shared with plants.
